Personally I was hoping the 'jump ramp thingy' will be as big as possible. Plus I actually live here.
bowl necessary? costs a fuck tone of money to dig a hole in the ground and fill it with concrete. why not bowled ends like riverside and rosehill? above ground. probably a bit late but
Bowl is absolutely necessary. Tasmania has not a single vert ramp or bowl. The design in the bowl needs changing though. I'll post some images up tonight of what would be good.
Hi Simon, my thoughts on the bowl are:
- Removing the roll ins. As a general rule they destroy lines.
-Depth... 11 foot in the deep end with 10 ft transition and 1 foot of vert. Shallow to be either 5 or 6 foot to vert. If 6 foot can get away with having about half a foot of vert. If possible try three levels. One with 8 foot to vert. Clover would work nicely for this. It's really important to make sure there's a nice bit of flat in the deep end though.
- Tiles (about 8 inches from the top) and pool coping the whole way around set perfectly.
- A good waterfall into the deep. Not too mellow or steep. Otherwise speed will be a real issue.
-Design needs a flat wall and enough corners to keep a carving feeling. At the moment the deep end is a little back and forthish.
Photos to follow....
This would work wonders... Make one section a bit smaller though. (tranny/height) Maybe 5/5, 8/7 and 10/11
This bowl is awesome. Look slike the mid section has a foot of vert.... maybe 7 or 8 foot tranny?
6 people wanting a bowl < 600000 wanting street orientated stuff. penush is on the money.
No reason we can't have both. No need to get into an argument over street vs bowl but I am only advocating my opinion for what I would like to see in a bowl.
I wouldn't mind a proper bowl. I wouldn't be able to shred on it, but I love skating tranny and wouldn't mind learning vert.
As Christoph said about there not being a legimentate bowl in Tas, I can't see why putting a purposal in for a legit bowl wouldn't hurt.
Also Street > vert. Fite me irl
if they extend the 2x quarters on the end, then they've created a decent half-pipe.
to create some variety in transition sizes, this would probably justify making a deeper bowl as stopher has requested - bigger bowls are better, bu they jack up the price considerably, so it depends what budget you've got to work with.
I'm not a big fan of roll-in's either, they're pretty much only good if they provide a realistic gap for pro's... otherwise they don't get any other use except for beginners until they learn how to roll-in properly over coping into a normal transition.
