Thank you Imgne, I'm dissappointed at that. At least now people can make an INFORMED decision on wether to support an organisation that has links to a company that is currently actively pushing pre-fab parks to the sunshine coast council and others.
beat me to the post, thanks for answering Cheets. Dont get me wrong, I like the idea of what you're doing, though I find it hard to reconcile that work with the commercial interests you are connected to by your employment. If its going to be an independent Association then i am intrigued and could possibly help.
Concerns I'd like to voice?
Caloundra should be free, no pricing review has been done altough the council agreed to a review in their skatepark plan of two years ago.
No lights at skateparks-why the fuck not? All urban planning around Australia is moving towards lighted areas to disuade anti-social behaviour but the sunshine ocast is still in the dark (you like that pun?). I work every day and cannot often get to park until dusk so have limited skate time. Alex lights are not sufficient to skate.
No competitions, although there were the Coolum ones, I don't pray and don't like being asked to. The council should put up money for some non-denominational competitions.
Hows that for a start?
I probably should of mentioned that Cheets merely works for trinity and from my experiences with him, he's a pretty down to earth dude who's down to help skateboarding.
I leave the whole Trinity shit to those more so in the know...
Sick man! You make some awesome points that I agree with. Alex...it's funny you bring that up, i just thought my eyes sight was going. I fully understand your angle for my commerical interests, and don't blame yah for rasing the questions. But that was not my intention to start the page, it was more from a skater on the Sunshine Coast point of view, trying to get the ball rolling in my community.
I appreciate that imgne
I will get back to this thread with who will be running the page very soon.
Hi Phil..! Hope you are as awesome as ever.
So, can I talk about the elephant in the thread and say Trinity = God?
Hey Phil - How you doing? B careful when you talk about transparency and conflict of interest with skate associaitons.. they dont like it :)
Latest from the council, good news that they are moving forward and the project is prominent.

and hello Krim and Drew, thanks krim that elephant needs to come out, and Drew you can see how much more diplomatic I have become right? ; )
Anyways I have decided that there is some help I can give these guys, I just have a bit of work to do first to set up then I'll let everyone know, I'm hoping people here can support it because its for the good of skaters everywhere on the coast.
As well as good for the local economy when people come from all over to skate the new park, go spend money in the local food shops and pubs, etc.
Too much info.
Good job anyway.
Quick update from the council. Talked yesterday to the project officer for this skatepark. Was informed that all is progressing as intended within timeframes originally set out. Initial plans have been drawn up and are now with Parks and Gardens so it can be incorporated into the whole of Quota Park re-design. When this stage has been finalised the park and surrounds will go to tender, which means I was wrong no builder has been engaged at this stage. My apologies to the coast skaters for this misinformation.
This also means we have to make it clear that we don't want a pre fab park. Write to the council and say so or it may happen. Just hit the contact link on the council page adress it to the Nambour skatepark project and it will get to the project officer, he is waiting to see our views and has to take them into account when the tender is being decided. Be clear and succinct and frame you arguments well. They will not listen to rants (unlike this site, which I love them for).
All being well and good the council is proposing a December 2013 start date on construction and finishing early 2014.
Cheets, whats up with your association? Haven't heard anything more since I called you on being a Trinity employee. No animosity just want to see how it's progressing and what info you are getting for the skaters on the sunshine coast?
Still chatting to the dudes on the coast who are going to run it.
Trying to organise chaos. Everyone wants good parks, but doesn't want to put the effort in. Gotta find the gems that will fight for it.
Thanks for the update. Like i said before, i just made the site to pass on to those willing to put their face to it.
sounds like you're not asking the right people, Steelo gave me some great advice years ago, you need something done, find a busy person to do it, they always fit stuff in whereas the dude with time on his hands will always have time on his hands.
'Nother quick update from the council. Today the project officer travelled to Bundy to pick out the pieces of the old sugar mill that will be incorporated into the park. Once these measurements have been completed and passed on plans will be finalised for comment by user groups and skateboarders. We will have the opportunity to suggest changes to improve the design but not change them substantially, which is usually the way it goes. This is a good thing and it is refreshing to see that the council is being open and willing to discuss options with the community. As far as all else goes we are still looking like sticking to the timelines given, barring unforseen circumstances of course.
Must give Clayton at the council props, not only cause I know he reads this forum, but because he has been open and receptive to all my questions and always endevours to answer me as quickly as possible as well as showing a real determination to get things done for the local skaters which is a real change from what has been happening on the coast in the past.
Meeting was on tuesday at Nambour Library, only myself and one other skater showed up along with a councellor and a few interested locals. need more people if we want to get what we want. We were shown concept plans and it looks like the sunshine coast wil have a street plaza. Some of the obstacles are more for beginners though. If we want stuff for more advanced skaters you guys need to get involved. We asked about increasing the height and skill level of some of the stuff, we'll see how that goes. The designer was very receptive to suggestions but the council may have it's hands tied. We asked also about saving the metal halfpipe that is at the other space in nambour and moving to this space so there is some tranny and a mix for all skaters because it is being touted as a "regional" park, council again is uncertain if this could happen. Without pressure from locals it probably wont. get your say in before they finalise everything, write to the council or your local councellor and do it now.
Hey Phil,
Have you spoken to Will @ skatesauce mate? I'm sure he might be able to help with getting some more numbers to the meetings... flyers help
Once again, many props for what your trying to do, sunny coast needs a decent street plaza park!
