So let's get on it with ideas, this park will only be as good as we push for.
I am still unsure of their intended operating structure. Previously the Salvo's tried to run the place.. badly..was a huge fail. So the management of this place will need to be discussed.
Will there be a skate shop there ?
Will they lease out the ownership ?
Operating hours.. remember it used to be closed almost EVERY public holiday due to them being holy days for the salvos, so when it was needed the most... it was closed.
And most importantly, the ramps and streetcourse.
Globe world cup style? Indoor plaza.
Vert Ramp (hope so), something medium sized too.
a wooden bowl.
So many options so y'all bring huge bag of ideas along.
Personally I think bowls suck ass and there are way too many, give me parallel trannies any day, but this isn't exactly my own skatepark. We need to cater for the majority. So go along throw down your opinions.
I would prefer a decent indoor vert.
A maybe 7 foot spine with an L shape.
A street setup, with a euro, fun boxes, decent stairs and rails, not that crap they had with 1/4's at each end and a very old dodgy rail 1 foot high.
But that is what this is all about.. go and speak.
the rail was awesome!
beginner and advanced areas was something i liked about the shed..
kept the little kids away from everyone else..
make a smooth as hell ledge, a nice flat bar, some good quarters, and a down rail in beginners area, and mix it up a little bigger in the other area...
scooters are going to be a concern also..
fuck scooters
yeah i hope for something decent
friday night seshs were awesome there
Yup pretty sure thats the place. I dont finish work till 2pm so I am going to the cranbourne one after.
OK will try to sum up meeting I was at
maybe 20+ attended, but many were bike riders
Shane from Revolution Action Sports is taking in the ideas and designing the park. (Really knows his shit from what I have seen)
Construction will be put out to tender later
Construction to start 09/10 financial year
Budget will be set next Thursday by council (they sounded like they expect a truckload of money!)
zero chance of a vert ramp
very high chance of a bowl.. o F*&%ing yay (praying for a capsule with a flat bottom)
Spine of some sort sounds likely also
Design will be finalized by 15th May
Will be wooden frame with Skatelite surface
Foam pit didn't sound likely
on another note..
Large Regional Facility to also be built at fountain gate
200k also being spent for Berwick Springs
