With the Sydney skateboard association taking some real word action I figured we could make a wee thread about things to bring to their attention. There's no real way of them knowing about these issues if all we do is continue to bitch about said issues with mates while down at the park. (unless of course you contact them directly).
At best this could be a good log of defects within Sydney's skateparks and at the very least it's a good place to whinge about your local.
glebe is listed under annandale mini, but now looks nothing like the old photo...

from memory i think there's a rust hole developing
Glebe mini got all patched up a short while ago. No more holding onto the fence in case the platform caves in.

Perfect (coincidental) timing on this thread - went to avalon skatepark last night to find half of it covered in wet anti-graffiti paint without a single council sign in site. So many people almost ate it...
A lot of the western syd parks are skating the black rock under the concrete.

You shouldn't eat paint. It could make you sick.

Here’s a little list Just to give you all an update regarding new parks in Sydney.
- Botany – Early consultation stages – undisclosed location
- Woollahra – “Rushcutters Park” (I think) - Early consultation stages
- Randwick - Early consultation stages – undisclosed location
- Leichardt – “Callan Park” – design consultation this Saturday. Flyer below.
- Ashfield – “Summer Hill” – resurface + extension or a complete re do + extension
- Warringah – a few different parks and apparently a “drop spot” type project which is beginning shortly. We will let you know more once we get an update.
- City of Sydney – “City Park, Sydney Park and 2 smaller parks” – The council has just hired a company to begin a case study on potential locations for all.
There is also the new mini ramp at Waterloo which should be completed pretty soon. The Cherrybrook extension and resurface is also about to begin any day now. Please let me know if anyone has any questions?
Callan Park design Consultation this Saturday. Please come along and put in your two cents regarding design. I know for a fact that a lot of the Five Dock BMX guys are coming along to try and get a "BMX friendly" park built.
Hey, Sparkes, do you have any more detail on the Botany plans; council contacts etc.
Also, Kogarah were talking about a plaza, but they've completed the rest of their "Youth" project and say there's no funding for the Skate Plaza.
Last I heard Botany was pushed back due to funding issues but I know they are still interested to do something even if it's slightly low key. I'll try find out more info regarding Botany for you. Haven't heard anything about Kogarah but i'll look into it
