Well it seems like the sunshine coast council is finally getting around to doing something about that tradgedy in Nambour they call a skatepark. As I understand it Convict has got the contract, thankfully it did because there was some Holy roller jesus crew that also put in apparently. It's time the coast got decent stuff, no more backyardies by connections that have no experience. Enough rant, There is stuff going on and the council wants your input go here to find out about times etc, but it is all this weekend. The Sunshine coast council is notorious for no consulting so get there if you want to have a say, it's entirely possible it is the last you will get. Be involved or the BMXrs and scooters have their way.

Just make a functional concrete skatepark.
From what you said, up that way there would be a pre fab company that made a local indoor facility that is on the same field as all the other pre fab wood metal composite structures which have no place in public parks in this country.
The maintenance alone for a public park would be such a pain, let alone all the other pain that comes with those sort of companies / structures.
And please keep the old bowl, regardless of how haggard it is.
Brimson is as usual, on it. The bowl will probably go as the skatepark is in a new area. It actually looks like they have some decent money this time as well so we are hoping for something half decent. I don't mind Jesus but the situation in skateboarding up here is that they have the councils ear pretty hard.
Hate is a strong word that I really prefer not using, but I fucking hate rhino ramps/ARC skateparks!
I wish you all the best with getting a decent skatepark on the sunshine coast Phil, so many shit parks in that area and its pretty fucked that the main one that's decent, you have to pay to get into.
Can we form a petition and send it to every council as a preemptive measure calling out ARC and other despicable 'ramp' makers? and recommend those that do it legit. We need to put these cunts out of business

Anyways I went to the meeting this afternoon was stoked to meet some Nambour skaters that were there for this. After I gave them my commiserations we talked to the council guy and the consultant. Looks like an example of the combination street plaza and or "youth area", no bowl was mentioned by the council from the start and was indicated it was the preference from the council and consultant. Brimson may be happy to know that they are considering leaving the old bowl and shaded miniramp where they are and giving them both a a bit of a spruce up (nothing to change the originality, just fixing the riding surface). They have apparently saved some big ass metal bits from the old Nambour sugar mill which will be incorporatred into the park. History baby.
Think about what you want people, the town park it is going into already has toilets and BBQ's as well as an outdoor ampitheater with power access and is a stones throw from the RSL. The council is investing heaps in comparison to their history of tiny suburban kiddie lands and if you have your say this place could be epic! Shit if we try hard enough they might even light the fucker up at night

Dont get offended but, who are you cheets? I notice that you only started this facebook page a while ago and you call yourself the Sunshine Coast Skateboarding association. Thre is no mention of you in the council registers and Internet and phone book searches show only this page. If you intended to say you stand for skateboarders on the coast then you should at least say who you are and who the other board members of this association are. I'd hate to find out you work for Boardstore/the woods/pre-fab park dudes and would consider that a conflict of interest. call me cynic but thats the way I roll

haha I started the page yes. It is more facilitating the local skaters to voice their opinions. I will not be running it by any means and we will passing it on to local skaters with in the Sunshine Coast Community. (names to follow, if you'd like) It's only a push to get things up and running. Send some contact through and Sunshine Coast Skateboarding Assocation can throw it up. Luck Phil, as a local sunshine coast skateboarder, is there anything you'd like to voice?
Yes I work for Trinity Distribution, yes I live on the Sunshine Coast, yes I am in contact with majority of the Skateboard Community young and old, yes I want better skateparks here and maybe we can collaborate?
